Reserve yourself a space for the BeepBoop Electronics DIY Workshop at Machina Bristronica 2024. In this workshop you’ll learn how to modify a micro-cassette dictaphone to add speed control and experiment with creating your own tape loops for musical (and non-musical) use! Dictaphone units are included in the price of the ticket, no need to bring you own.
“I want to share my experiences with tape music and how modded tape decks and loops can encourage a different approach to composition and sound design. I love the way intended and unexpected can be both beautiful and discordant. The varied results offer everything from lush pitched down sonic washes to chaotic harsh noise destruction.
In the workshop we will modify a dictaphone to have a variable speed control and make a micro cassette tape loop before exploring musical and non-musical techniques and applications. The modification method we will learn about together will be applicable to lots of different battery powered tape machines!
To give you some inspiration there will be some unique examples of my own modified tape machines for you to try out and ask questions about. The dictaphone and Microcassette will be included in the price of the workshop so you will be able to take yours home with you.
Peace, love and Tape loops
